Some people know from a very young age exactly what they want to be. Marie? She wanted to be a fashion designer and she was eight years old when she decided. Fast forward a few years, and she ended up somewhere just as interesting: the intersection of fashion, technology and business impact.

From fun outfits to fashion management

Marie grew up with a love for fashion that was anything but subtle. "Crazy outfits as a kid" is how she describes it, a creative energy that never really went away. So when it came to choosing a degree, fashion felt like the obvious direction. But rather than going straight into fashion design, she chose Fashion Management and it turned out to be the right call.

Marie Dömel

"I wanted more options.", she says, "And honestly, I found the management side more exciting than I expected."

What kept her hooked was the combination of creativity and technical depth, especially when it came to the role of technology in the fashion industry. Her bachelor's thesis explored this very topic: how tech and data are reshaping fashion and what that means for sustainability. For Marie, it wasn't just an academic exercise. It was a genuine passion for understanding the impact that innovation can have on an industry she loves.

The job that surprised her

As a Customer Success Manager at Chainbalance, Marie's days are anything but predictable and she loves it. What excites her most? The ripple effect.

"What's really cool is that you can see how so many small settings, all influencing each other, create a total impact for the customer.", she says. "The synergy between the different modules and then seeing clear, concrete results, that's what gets me."

It's a perspective that fits perfectly with what Chainbalance does: making millions of micro-decisions that add up to measurable change for fashion brands. For Marie, watching those decisions translate into real outcomes for customers is what makes the work feel meaningful.

A culture that fits

Ask Marie what she loves about Chainbalance as a company and the answer comes quickly: the culture.

"Everyone is on the same level. You get real responsibility from day one, not just in your core role, but across other projects too.", she says.

But it's not just the day-to-day culture that drew her in. It's the bigger picture. Chainbalance's mission to make merchandise management smarter and more sustainable resonates deeply with her, both personally and professionally. "The idea that you can build something that's economically viable and better for the planet long-term, that's something I really want to be part of."

Life outside the office

When Marie isn't helping customers unlock the full potential of Smart Merchandise Management, you'll find her painting, drawing or diving into a good book. She also performs poetry slams, yes, she writes and performs them, and loves festivals (best enjoyed with her dad) and live concerts.

Her favourite book? Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Which, if you think about it, makes perfect sense for someone who combines sharp analytical thinking with a love for creativity.
